Accommodation and Catering

Competa Hikes uniquely offers its own walking lodge, for walking groups up to 20 people. The lodge is nestled on the edge of the natural park and we are well located to bring together the beauty, and tranquillity of the surrounding landscape, with the fantastic atmosphere found in the nearby whitewashed village of Competa.

We are 45 minutes from Malaga Airport, and 7 minutes from Competa.  The lodge is divided between two converted Finca’s ( Spanish farmhouses) and and three luxury, themed log cabins, and sits on over two acres of tranquil gardens and pine trees.   Our luxury log cabins are all ensuite, and are themed as Africa, Andalusia/Morocco and India.   The main finca houses the indoor dining room.

The dining room can seat 20 people, and has large mirador windows with views to the sea and the mountains. The dining room has its own wood burner for the cooler evenings of January and February and has two sofas by the fire for relaxing and reading in the early evenings. There is also an extensive library in this dining room and a antique pine dresser containing many board games.

The pool is open all year round and we have built a ‘tree house’ honesty bar, set in the trees just above the pool, for guests to use as they require. This is stocked with beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, and we do offer a bar and cocktail service on request free of charge, as well as self service.   Next to the pool is a covered eating area, seating over 20 people, with stone barbeque, where we will cook a typical South African barbeque for one of your meals, and provide a warming open fire to sit around into the evening.

The grounds are beautiful, with views to the sea and the mountains. Dotted amongst the grounds are hidden seating areas and decking, including a hammock deck in Moroccan style all providing space and privacy for relaxing after a hard days walking or hiking. We also have a large trampoline for exercising, or just some fun, and a boule pit ( Petanke in Spain) in the grounds.
